College of Chemistry of Chemical Engineering Completed the Assessment of Chemistry and Environmental Science as Disciplines Authorized to Grant Degree
Resting on the practical development of our university as a degree-granting unit and work arrangement, the assessment meeting of Chemistry and Environmental Science respectively as a first and second level displince authorized to grant dorctorate and master degree was held on schedule recently according to the official documents issued by the Office of the State Council Academic Degrees Committee and the Ministry of Education. The meeting was hosted by Miao Chen, Executive Dean of Graduate School and Director of the Degree office. Prominent professors and leaders attended the meeting such as Professor Liu Yu, Wang Jianji, Guo Sancheng, Wang Xuxu, and Yang Jinlong, as well as Liu Xiansheng, member of the Standing Committee and Vice President of our university, Niu Jingyang , Chief of Discipline Division, and Fang Meng, Secretary of the Party Committee of College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. The disciplinary assessment meeting of environmental science, hosted by Professor Liu Bailu from the Graduate School, was held on March 26th. Fang Meng, Secretary of the Party Committee of College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Zhao Chengxin, Vice Dean of the Graduate School, and five experts such as Gao Huiwang, Zhou Qixing, Fanjing,etc. attended the meeting.
The leaders involved in this meeting firstly extended their warm welcome to the experts and professors of the assessment group on behalf of the university. Then they pointed out that the assessment comes down to not only a report of self-evaluation and self-correcting of Chemistry and Environmental Science as disciplines that authorized to grant degree but also a good opportunity by virtue of which problems lie in this aspect can be found, analyzed and solved.Though the discipline construction of Chemistry and Environmental Science has obtained a better result, there’s still a lot of room for improvement compared with the high-level universities.
They hoped that the experts could come up with some purposeful suggestions in terms of discipline construction, faculty development and personnel training to give directions to the discipline development in the future.
After their careful listening to the report, the experts gave a high remark on the objective of education, faculty, scientific research, curriculum management, the quality of graduates,etc. And they put forward some precious advice for Chemistry and Envirmental Science as degree-granting disciplines in terms of training schemes, dissertation, international academic exchange, discipline construction,etc.
In the feedback section, the experts reaffirmed the gratigying achievements that has been made and they all agreed that College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering as a degree-granting unit has a strong development momentum because of its well-established foundation, distinctive talent training programme, moderate-sized and reasonable-structured teaching staff, fruitful scientific research achievements, perfect disciplinary platform and explicit objective of education. The expert group also proposed some suggestions on the development of Chemistry and Environmental Science as disciplines that authorized to grant degree. At last, the result of the anonymous voting showed that the attitude of the expert group on the self-evalution of College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering turned out to be positive.
